About RAD Architectural Design

RAD Architectural Design is a small, hands-on architecture firm built around a simple idea: listen first, understand what the client is trying to accomplish, and design from there.
We work primarily with real estate developers and entrepreneurs on multifamily, industrial and warehouse projects, along with self-storage, commercial and retail, and other commercial work. We believe good architecture has to do more than look good. It has to make sense for the site, work for the people using it, be buildable and make financial sense.
We’re based in Kaysville, Utah, but our work doesn’t stop there. RAD is licensed in 20 states with active projects in 9. That growth has happened largely because existing clients have taken us with them into new markets — something we’re pretty proud of.
We try to make the development process easier, not harder. That means listening first, communicating clearly, solving problems early and keeping projects moving.
We don’t disappear when things get complicated. We work through the issues with our clients, consultants and contractors and stay focused on finding a way forward.
The goal is bigger than one successful project. We want to be the architect our clients call for the next one — and the one after that.
See Our Expertise→Why RAD?
The name came from one of Jared’s favorite movies growing up — the 1986 BMX movie RAD. When it came time to name the firm, RAD stuck. It was memorable, a little different and didn’t sound like every other architecture firm.
Turns out, it fits us pretty well. We take the work seriously. Ourselves? A little less. We care about good design, keeping our word and doing right by our clients. We work hard, solve problems and try to have some fun along the way.

Leadership
Founder + Principal Architect
Jared likes buildings, but he likes the people behind them even more.
For him, architecture starts with listening — understanding what a client is trying to accomplish, working through the problems together and turning an idea into something real.
That collaborative approach is intentional. Jared believes good ideas can come from anywhere — the owner, architect, contractor or the person sitting at the next desk. If a problem needs to be worked out in the field, he'll go to the field. He's been known to jump in the car — or on a plane — to help solve a problem rather than leave a client waiting.
Jared grew up around commercial properties managed by his dad and started drafting when drawings were still done with pencils and drafting tables. He eventually earned a Master of Architecture and later returned to school for a Master of Real Estate Development to better understand the other side of the table. That perspective continues to shape how he practices: good design still has to make sense for the site, the budget and the deal.
RAD becoming a full-time practice grew out of a deeply personal chapter in Jared's life. In 2017, while his first wife was battling breast cancer, he stepped away from traditional employment to care for her and their three young boys while continuing architectural work on the side. She passed away in 2018. The experience shaped both his life and the kind of company he wanted to build.
At RAD, family comes first. Jared believes the work matters, but never more than the lives people build outside of it.
Today, he's most proud of the relationships RAD has built and the clients who keep coming back. When he's not working, you'll probably find him mountain biking or skiing with his family, traveling somewhere new, adding another LEGO set to the shelf in his office, or defending his decision to drive a Cybertruck.
Team
We're a group of creative thinkers, problem solvers, and genuinely good people who love what we do. We take our work seriously, but that doesn't mean we have to take ourselves too seriously. We work hard, look out for each other, and have some fun along the way.
At the end of the day, we're proud of the buildings we help create, but even prouder of the people behind them.
